How can I find out whether my car has Halogen lights, Xenon/Bi Xenon?

I have mercedes CLK 320 2003.

I know it is a stupid question, but I have a bet with my friend (he says its halogen I say it's bi xenon), I want to know a way to prove to him.How can I find out whether my car has Halogen lights, Xenon/Bi Xenon?
Thats easy, Halogen headlights are the ones found on your average car, they are the most common in the mid-class market but many premium and well equipped cars come with Bi Xenon headlights in todays market which include vehicles like Lexus, BMW, Infiniti, Audi and Mercedes Benz. If you CLK320 has projector bulbs then youll know your car has Xenon headlights, if your headlights are hallow and you only say a small Halogen Bulb then the obvious to you should be that you CLK is not equipped with Xenon Headlights. Halogen Headlight sput out Yellow light while Xenon headlight put out White light. Here are some pictures of a 2003-2009 CLK320 with Halogen headlights and one with Xenon Headlights.

Halogen lights have a yellowish-white light and they come on at full strength as soon as you turn them on.

Xenon lights have a bluish-white light and they need about 10 seconds to warm up before they have full light output. When you turn xenon headlamps on, they have a very bright flash and then the light comes on at roughly 2/3 light output and begins to intensify as the lights warm up.



A 2nd way to easily tell is that Benz original headlamps with xenon have the ability to lower the beam for when the car goes over a bump (so not to blind on-coming traffic). Because of this, when a xenon headlamp first comes on, you can physically see the projector inside the headlamps dip slightly as it performs this function as a self-test. Halogen projector beams don't have this feature.How can I find out whether my car has Halogen lights, Xenon/Bi Xenon?
Go down to any autostore or online type your car into the replacement light section and it should tell you.



I belive you have Halogens, xenon set ups didn't become popular untill 2005 and most of them are illegal if not done from a factory or done with proper recalibration. Also at night when you stare into the car lights do they have a glare? (one that blinds/irritates you and other drivers) If you do then they arent halogens.
