My advice: don't.
If you already have an x5 with original factory fit Xenon headlights, that's the way to leave it. Xenon headlights are a lot more fiddly to install than the old fashioned kind. They can be dangerous to handle, and contain high voltage capacitors that could shock you.
At the end of the day, the odds of you being able to switch out the lights, and do a better job than the factory is pretty slim. Especially as you apparently don't even know where to start.
When you eventually trade your car, its value will be determined by the mileage, vehicle history, condition, and whether or not you have been messing with it. No one wants to buy a car that some enthusiastic amateur has been playing with. People are looking for a good clean vehicle in as close to original condition as possible.IS it hard to remove xenon headlights from BMW x5 and put aftermarket ones?
Yes, ZCT is absolutely correct, you do not want to change any BMW factory installed parts. A ggod place to start is to talk to a BMW dealership on the kinds of things that buyers are looking for a used BMW. The xenon lights with are optional on BMW's, is one of the desired option that buyers look for and would be a huge plus when selling your car.
BMW's are best to leave stock and most aftermarket parts will devalue your BMW. There are some exceptions to this. Installing Dinan performance parts that can be installed in selected BMWs and will not void the factory warranty. Another exanple would be installing Brembo brake kits. However, be care on who installs it. Be sure to get it installed by shop that has experience doing this. Brembo is an option on some high end sports cars.
In general, it is best to keep the car completely stock and equally important is when replacing parts, use factory BMW parts. BMW, as in most manufactures, the factory parts are designed to optimize the reliability of your car. Even if you don't plan on ever selling your BMW, is it advisable to keep it stock. Once the car has been altered in any way or a cheaper OME parts are used, most used car managers will lower its value. This applies to all parts. For example, I had a minor fender damage and my insurance wanted to use a after market part, I had objected and it was replaced with a factory fender. Sometimes aftermarket body parts will not fit properly and it will be noticeable to a trained eye.
Sorry for this long explanation, but I wanted to point out the importance of keping your BMW a "BMW".
For those who have alreeady replaced some factory parts, be sure to keep the original part so that it can be put back prior to selling the vechicle.
I hope this helps you. IS it hard to remove xenon headlights from BMW x5 and put aftermarket ones?
